Preschoolers have wild imaginations and ever-changing favorites. They surprise you almost daily with their observations and funny theories about the world around them. That's not to mention that one day they'll only eat a banana if it's peeled just right, and the next day that same peeled banana will send them into full-blown panic mode. We created these interview questions for preschoolers to help you preserve the magic of this time.
Interviewing your preschooler isn't just a fun activity—it's a way to bottle up who they are right now. You're making memories and creating snapshots of their personalities. You'll still treasure these little time capsules when your child is packing their bags for college.
Whether you ask these questions on a quiet afternoon, at bedtime, or right before a birthday, make sure you record their answers somewhere special. We recommend saving them in Baby Notebook's Magic Years memory book designed for ages 2-3! Check out this preview of Baby Notebook's Magic Years book.
When to Ask Interview Questions for Preschoolers
A great time to ask these questions is right before your child's third birthday. Around this age, many kids love to talk, pretend, and share their opinions without hesitation. They're also just starting to make sense of the world around them.
In the Magic Years book, we include a two-page interview spread right before the third birthday entry. You can document your child's voice at this magical age.
Below are some of our favorite interview questions for preschoolers, including some pulled straight from the Magic Years book.
